What Will You RePurpose?

Habitat for Humanity asks “What will you build“?

Frederick Habitat Volunteers at Madison Street, 2010

Well, what will YOU build? Habitat for Humanity asks this to encourage individuals across the world act now and help make Habitat’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities and hop successful. Will you help build a home for a hardworking single mother of three dreaming to one day own a secure and decent house where her children can feel protected and free to grow up and prosper? Will you build a ramp for an injured war veteran who is having difficulty getting in and out of him home while adjusting to his new life in a wheelchair?

Or will you help build success for Habitat by becoming a ReStore customer?

Profits earned at ReStore directly impact the success of Habitat, as revenues generated at ReStore cover Habitat’s operational and project costs.  And, you don’t have to be building or repairing your home to find great finds at ReStore, all you need is a little imagination!

We at Frederick ReStore hope to inspire individuals within the Frederick County community. Frederick ReStore wants individuals to use their imaginations and explore creative opportunities to change the purpose and appearance of old building and home improvement items. Using this goal in mind, ReStore worked alongside Tuscan Blue Design, a Frederick Interior Design firm, to create a room display featuring RePurposed and Refurbishment ReStore items!

ReStore what?

In case you’re curious about ReStore, here’s a little background information.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a home improvement center that sells new and still usable goods to the public at a fraction of retail cost.Frederick ReStore, like many others across the nation, resells overstocked, discontinued and used quality building materials, home imprvement items and furnishings donated by individuals, suppliers and contractors.

Did you know the up to 40% of landfill waste is that of building materials! ReStores across the nation strive to decrease that number by promoting environmental responsibility. ReStore does so by accepting donations of new or gently used building and home improvement items and making these materials available for reuse. This gives communities an alternative and diverts building and home improvement materials from taking up valuable space at county landfills.

Additionally,Habitat for Humanity ReStore acts as a fundraising division for its Habitat affiliate!  Funds generated at Frederick ReStore directly impact Frederick Habitat’s mission to  build bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.
